Oktoberfest is Germany’s largest beer festival that is celebrated in Munich for 2 weeks in September and October. It is said to be one of the largest folk festivals in the world! Tents are set up selling beer exclusively from Munich breweries.
Oktoberfest originally began sometime in October 1810, during the wedding of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, Prince Ludwig to a Saxon princess, Therese.
So, after the wedding, all of the wealthy citizens of Munich were invited to spend 5 days of non-stop eating, drinking and merrymaking! This became a tradition for the people of Munich and Oktoberfest continues to this day!
We at GZ have our little own Oktoberfest with games, beer and snacks! This gives us a chance to catch a glimpse of German culture, here in Hyderabad!
