Cocoon | Film Screening

Event detail page
In the hot summer of Berlin-Kreuzberg, Nora, played by Lena Urzendowsky, hangs out with her older sister Jule (Lena Klenke) at places like the underground station, public pools, rooftops, and parties. She's like a butterfly in a cocoon, not quite a kid anymore but not fully grown up yet – just like the ones she keeps in a box. Her journey takes a turn when she gets her period for the first time during gym class, she panics and runs to the girls' restroom. There, she meets Romy, who helps her clean her jeans and gives her a joint to ease her discomfort. Romy, played by Jella Haase also makes Nora realize something new about herself: she likes girls more than boys that she says to her hardened sex education teacher with cautiously chosen words. The movie, directed by Leonie Krippendorff, tells a sweet story, a tenderly romantic coming-of-age and coming-out story with real-life scenes and simple language. In the end, Nora finds her wings and flies like a butterfly.
