This event is part of the on-going collaboration between Hamburg and Hyderabad. Katharina Holstein-Sturm will be conducting a 3-day workshop on art-therapy for the women at Shaheen, an NGO founded by poet and activist Jameela Nishat to empower women. Shaheen works with marginalised women from the Muslim, Dalit and other backward communities, facing different forms of violence to empower them. Through the workshop she will introduce the mental mindset and lots of artistic techniques and tools to draw from to help deal with the difficult situations they face. She will illustrate that the outcome of art therapy is not an artistic result, but it can be. At GZH, Katharina and the artists will present their artistic results and some posters to document their work and share their process and learnings from the workshop conducted at Shaheen.
